WHO IS DIXIE
Dixie, a 3-year-old Labrador and Golden Retriever mix, was killed by Lorain Police Department Officer Elliot Palmer on July 2, 2023. The incident occurred in Lorain, Ohio, after the dog escaped from her home amidst the chaos of Fourth of July fireworks. Officer Palmer shot Dixie multiple times, including after she had been initially wounded, as she attempted to crawl back to her family. This event led to widespread community outrage, the creation of a "Justice for Dixie" rally, and a petition demanding Officer Palmer's removal from duty which garnered significant support.
